In our work together, we’ll focus on what matters most to you, at your pace. I draw from evidence-based approaches, including Trauma-Informed Care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI), tailoring each session to your unique needs.Whether you’re looking to heal from trauma, process a specific experience, reconnect with yourself, shift unhelpful patterns, or navigate stress, anxiety, or major life transitions, we’ll work collaboratively to create meaningful, sustainable change in a way that feels supportive and aligned with you.

GRIT Therapy does not offer in-person sessions at this time.
Telehealth sessions are available via secure video for clients located anywhere in Washington state.

We will work together to determine a session frequency that aligns with your needs and goals. Most clients begin by meeting weekly or every other week, then gradually transition to less frequent sessions, such as monthly, until our work together ends.
Your care is individualized, and we can adjust frequency at any time, whether that is more frequent and consistent support or less frequent with a more flexible schedule.

GRIT Therapy does not accept insurance and operates as a private-pay practice. This model allows for greater privacy, autonomy, and flexibility in your care, without the limitations or oversight often required by insurance companies. Insurance companies often require a diagnosis, can limit the length or frequency of treatment, and may request information about your care that goes beyond what we believe best protects the confidential therapeutic space we aim to create for our clients.
Upon request, a superbill can be provided for you to submit to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
Disclaimer: To maintain the highest level of privacy and confidentiality, GRIT Therapy is private-pay-only. If you choose to use insurance at another practice or submit a superbill for potential reimbursement, please be advised that your insurer may request additional information to support medical necessity, including details about your diagnosis, treatment, or progress. In some cases, your primary care provider or affiliated medical system (e.g., a Military Treatment Facility or hospital) may also request access to your records or become aware that you are receiving care outside of their network.
These requirements and disclosures are determined by your insurance provider and/or affiliated systems and are outside of GRIT Therapy’s control.
-
A superbill is a detailed invoice, similar to a receipt, that you can submit to your insurance company to request possible out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and varies by insurance plan, but it may cover a portion of session fees. Please speak with your insurance provider directly to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits, reimbursement rates, and any requirements for submitting a superbill.

Additional information about reduced-rate options for service members and those with financial need is provided in the section that follows.

Working with me offers a collaborative, honest, and trauma-informed experience. Together, we will explore what matters most to you at your own pace, using evidence-based practices. I see you as the expert in your lived experience and will approach our work with curiosity and a sincere desire to understand your history and perspectives. This helps me meet you where you are, so we can build a path toward your goals that is authentic to you.

No, you do not need a diagnosis or to receive one to begin therapy at GRIT Therapy. Many people seek therapy for support with stress, trauma, life transitions, relationships, identity, burnout, grief, coping skills, personal growth, or simply having a private space to process what they are carrying.
Because GRIT Therapy is a private-pay practice, our clients have greater autonomy in deciding whether pursuing a diagnosis feels helpful, necessary, or aligned with their goals. Some clients find diagnostic clarity validating and useful, while others prefer to focus on their experiences, patterns, needs, and goals without centering treatment around a label. When diagnosis is clinically relevant or requested, it can be discussed collaboratively and thoughtfully as part of your care.

Yes, therapy is confidential. What you share in session is protected by law and will not be shared or disclosed without your written consent, with a few specific legal and ethical exceptions regarding your safety, the safety of others, and when required by court order.
These exceptions are outlined in your intake paperwork for review prior to your first session. We will also discuss confidentiality at the start of your intake session during the informed consent process.
You are always welcome to ask questions about our policies and confidentiality during our work together.
