Hi, I’m Kyia Costanzo.
I am a Licensed Social Worker Associate–Independent Clinical (LSWAIC) with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work and a Master of Social Work. I have 9 years of experience working with the military community and over 5 years of clinical experience supporting individuals through crises, transitions, and complex life challenges. My work has included serving service members, veterans, individuals impacted by the carceral system, and adults navigating high-stress environments in both national and international settings.
As a U.S. Army veteran and a veteran spouse, I founded GRIT Therapy after seeing firsthand the barriers many people face when seeking care through insurance. While insurance can make care accessible to many, it can also feel restrictive, impersonal, or unsafe for others. I created this practice to offer a space where privacy, autonomy, and genuine therapeutic connection are prioritized and accessible beyond insurers' limitations and oversight.
My approach is grounded in trauma-informed, gender-responsive, and inclusive care. I believe therapy works best as a collaborative process, where I bring my clinical expertise, and you bring your lived experience. Together, we work on what matters to you at your pace to help you navigate challenges, process trauma, reconnect with yourself, and build the tools to move forward in a way that feels meaningful, sustainable, and aligned with who you are.
Who We Are
My approach to therapy is collaborative, strengths-based, and grounded in gender-responsive, trauma-informed, and inclusive care.
I believe therapy should be a space where you can show up fully as yourself, without pressure to filter, perform, or have it all figured out. You are the expert on your life, lived experience, and identities (racial, cultural, spiritual, gender, sexual, etc.), and I’ll meet you where you’re at, bringing my clinical training, tools, professional experience, and commitment to providing compassionate, affirming care. Together, we can work to make sense of what’s been, build skills for what’s now, and create a path forward that feels aligned with who you are. I tailor each session to your unique needs, whether that means developing coping strategies, exploring patterns, or creating space for processing, reflection, and growth.
I strive to create a calm, low-pressure environment where you feel safe, respected, and supported. Therapy with me is a partnership, one where you can move at your own pace while working toward meaningful, lasting change.
